It wasn’t long ago that the pivotal seatpost came to market and it’s only been in the last few years that real slimming down of product weight has achieved anything significant. It can’t be long before the plateau is reached where things can no longer be put on diet without compromising strength.
New York based, Animal Bikes, however have thought outside the box by combining two weight saving innovations into a single seatpost. The new ‘Wedge Post’ (Patent Pending) eliminates the need for a seat clamp of any kind, using the bolt used to screw the seat on, to simultaneously expand a wedge inside the seat tube.
As with all things coming from BMX companies today, it will come in multiple colours (black, blue, charcoal, green, purple and red.) The post is likely to arrive in June alongside the new drilled-out, Animal rim, also still in prototype stages, and a new jacket.
