Toobo.co.uk has launched in the UK. It's a direct transplant from France and is a price comparison site, checking over 350 UK online stores. The bike side is empty at the moment, but keywords are in place already

Another comparison site launches

French comparison shopping site Toobo.co.uk allows comparisons to be based on criteria from price to technical specifications, as well as comparing equivalent brands.

The site launched in France in October 1999 and features a warning system that emails users when products reach desired prices. A WAP feature allows users to compare prices whilst shopping for products offline.

Toobo.co.uk is just one of many similar comparison sites such as DealTime, Free2look, Shopsmart and the TV-advertised Kelkoo.

"We’ve got more product categories than leading comparison shopping sites and we make sure you’ll get your comparison within three clicks, so we save you time. We’re not promising the best price, but we’re offering the best UK e-tailers. We intend to build up site traffic slowly," UK director Frederic Bellier told Revolution, a marketing magazine.

The site has a mountain bike category but no cycle retailers at present. The pull down brands menu features Cannondale as the only bike brand but this was obviously added as a famous name only because there are no Cannondale’s on the UK site.

Over on the identical looking French site there are 1200+ cycles online, but deeper research reveal many of these to be exercise bikes.

As Toobo.co.uk ramps up its efforts to include more retailers than its competitors, cycle retail sites are expected to be added.
