Electric bicycle trailer brand gets first Australian dealer

Australian bike shop to carry Ridekick

Electric Vehicles of Australia is Ridekick’s first international dealer.

The Ridekick power trailer is, according to its Colorado maker, the first commercially available electric-powered bicycle trailer, attaching and unhitching within seconds.

The lockable 42litre storage compartment is designed to give riders the option to leave the car at home. The battery-driven motor boosts the rider for 15 to 20 miles on one charge.

Electric Vehicles director of sales and marketing Scott Dickason said: "We have the Ridekick and have been having a good play with it. It’s great! We love it and are keen to introduce it in the Australia market.”

A fleet of 1,400 postal delivery bicycles are used by the Australian Postal corporation.

Ridekick was formed in 2009 buy Mark Wanger, He said: "The vision of Ridekick is to provide an affordable way for people to enjoy bike riding as a mode of transportation and leave the car in the garage. Fifty percent of our trips taken by car areless than four miles from our home bases, and bicycling is the fun and healthy alternative to driving.”
