Bicycle Association joins 20mph coalition

The Bicycle Association of Great Britain has added its name to the GO 20 coalition campaigning for slower speeds and safer streets.

BAGB’s chief executive Phillip Darton said: “The Bicycle Association believes that lowering the speed limit in built up areas to 20mph would be an effective way to increase safety, reduce fatal and serious incidents, and encourage more women to cycle.”

The GO 20 coalition first made the call back in November during Road Safety Week. It’s not just cycle organisations that are campaigning for the slower speeds. The GO 20 line-up includes Sustrans, Brake, Living Streets, the National Heart Forum, 20’s Plenty for Us, Campaign to Protect Rural England and Ramblers.
