Grease Monkey wipes and Action Wipes want their partnership to power a niche category

Bike and body wipes companies team together

Action Wipes creator, Martha Van Inwegen and Grease Monkey Wipes owner, Tim Stansbury have created a sales cooperation partnership to cross-promote each others products.

At Interbike there were a number of wipes on show, some for the body, some for bikes, some for both.

Van Inwegen said the wipes category is growing, evidenced by the number of competitor brands, but that category growth would be quicker if companies banded together. To date only Grease Monkey Wipes has agreed to partner with Van Inwegen.

"Our products are obviously both wipes, but that is where the similarities end," said Van Inwegen.

"Action Wipes are the ideal solution when you cannot shower and Grease Monkey Wipes help you remove grease and grime from either yourself or your bike. Offering both products to customers will give them all the on-the-go cleaning solutions they would need.”

Stansbury agreed that pairing up makes sense: “The bicycling wipe market is a fast growing new segment and partnering with Action Wipes seemed like a natural fit. This partnership allows us to offer customers a complete portable cleaning solution; from the bike to the body.”

The companies offered product bundles at this weekend’s Levi Leipheimer’s King Ridge GranFondo in Santa Rosa, California and will do likewise at many US cycle-cross events in the coming year.

US-made Action Wipes are made with natural ingredients and are larger and stronger than other body wipes, said Van Inwegen. Once used, they can be washed multiple times over to be repurposed for other uses.

Grease Monkey Wipes use a natural citrus formula to clean grease, grime, oil from bikes, tools and hands.

BikeSnob NYC uses wipes: "Action Wipes are arguably the Chris King headset of personal pre-moistened filth management towels."
