Taiwanese exports falter, but bicycle figures hold steady

Bike exports buck downward trend

Bike exports from Taiwan are growing, despite an overall drop in the country’s export industry.

Orders have fallen to their lowest point in seven years for the country – a 5.5 per cent year-on-year decline. Bicycles, alongside pharmaceuticals, are the only areas in the export sector that are showing growth and resisting the downward slide.

The total value of Taiwanese export orders dropped by 4.43 per cent from the previous month, while orders from China fell for the third month in a row – a 22.84 per cent year-on-year decline.
