Bike shops: are you on the ACT website?

Thecyclingexperts.co.uk is the ACT’s consumer-facing website, carrying details of Cytech, Cycleguard and the Ride It Away finance scheme. It also carries a bike shop finding database. This provides information on a bike shop’s facilities, such as cycle hire availability and Cycle to Work scheme awareness.

Basic info on the site is listed free of charge. ActSmart Gold and Platinum members can extend their entries FOC as part of their membership benefits; silver and bronze subscribers pay £25 and £50 per retail outlet for extended listings.

Bike shops should search for their details and make sure they’re up to date, said Jonathan Harrison of ACT. Scroll to the base of this updating page.

The ACT supplied its bike shop database for use on the Bike Hub iPhone app so customers can find bike shops when out and about. This ‘satnav for cyclists’ app locates the nearest bike shops to a user in a six mile radius. An Android version of the app is in production.

Bike shops which aren’t listed by ACT can enrol for free as bronze members and create their own listing, which will appear on thecyclingexperts.co.uk.
