Bikebiz editor completes 24-hour Sleepless in the Saddle MTB race

There were 1400 riders, 60 of whom chose to ride the event solo.

Carlton Reid came 25th out of those 60. He sends a big thank-you to:

The Madison crew for supplying products, including Vistalite Night Sticks.

Julie Dymond and her sinfully calorific cakes.

Richard Hemington and Carole Armstrong of Specialized for supplying the Epic at short notice. "The Epic rode like a hardtail and enabled me to ride the long and loose killer climb that had most people walking. It was only in the wee small hours that I had to revert to pushing," said Reid.

Brant Richards for being Brant Richards and pushing into a long breakfast queue and getting the BikeBiz editor a bowl of much-need porridge.

Patrick Adams for organising such a bonkers event so well.
