Bike Biz executive editor Carlton Reid is give a talk about his new book at BicycleSPACE, Washington DC’s best bike shop, on Monday 26th June. Reid’s Bike Boom is published by Island Press of Washington, DC, and the talk will be held in association with Urban Arrow, the Dutch cargo bike brand.
Today’s Guardian newspaper has an extract from Bike Boom, an article discussing the American bicycle boom of 1971–4 which is still the high water mark for bike sales in the US. This article includes information on Washington DC, as well as the formation of US bike brands Specialized, Cannondale and Trek, which were born in the 1970s boom era.
