Bobbin Bicycles Drawing Studio proved a big, er, draw at last Friday’s V&A bike event.
The Eat, Sleep, Ride, Repeat evening saw BMX displays, talks on graphic design and cycling, art installations from the likes of framebuilder Tom Donhou and Mike White from Boneshaker Magazine.
Bobbin set up the Bobbin Bicycle Drawing Studio for the evening in the Raphael Gallery right in the heart of the museum. Bobbin invited people to take part in a bicycle drawing class… and demand was so great that all the drawing sessions were full.
Bobbin Bicycles director Tom Morris told BikeBiz: "Over three half hour sessions we brand explained, using our backgrounds as artists, how to draw six different bicycles, a mix of contemporary Bobbins and vintage gems provided by the Old Bicycle Showroom. Participants were invited to enter their drawings into our competition and the evening finished with Victor Fontan’s bike from the 1928 Tour de France.
"All the drawing sessions were full, there was a bit of a twitter flurry afterwards, and I think we may have started a new craze…!"
On modelling duties were:
- 2013 Bobbin Bramble
- 1948 Caminargent
- 2013 Bobbin Scout
- 1947 Paris Galibier
- 2013 Bobbin Birdie
- 1928 Victor Fontan (Tour de France bike).
There are plenty more pictures (and words) from the event on Bobbin Bikes’ site here.
