British Cycling is looking for people with knowledge of the sport together with experience and skills in business or in life to take up voluntary positions on the organisation’s board.
Three places on the board are due for election at National Council on 27th November. One is vacant, and the other two are currently held by former pro Justin Clarke and Welsh Cycling Union president Bill Owen, both of whom may be standing for re-election.
British Cycling President Brian Cookson outlined the kind of individual the organisation is looking for:
"It is not necessary to be a long-serving official, though of course we have many good examples who are contributing massively. We also need people with experience of business and professional life, who have good judgement, vision, integrity and a capacity to contribute to the governance of the organisation in a positive and creative way.
"There are many people out there who could make a real contribution to the development of our sport and we want to encourage them to put their names forward for this important role in the organisation".
Division and Organisations with direct representation on National Council will be asked to make nominations and the Board itself may make nominations. Anyone wishing to be considered for a direct nomination by the Board should contact Melanie Knowles at BC Headquarters, tel: 0161 2742037.
