Brooks releases collaboration with Vans

Following the previous release of the 2010 collaboration between classic British saddle company Brooks and skateboard company Vans, the brands have reunited to produce a new range of limited edition Brooks accessories and Vans footwear.

2016 has been a significant year for both companies, with Brooks celebrating its 150th anniversary and Vans currently celebrating its 50th year. The two well-respected entities come together for their second collaboration blending classic designs with quality materials and imagery that represents the histories of both companies.

The latest collaboration presents laser-etched artwork from designer Taka Hayashi across the TH OG Sk8-Hi and TH OG Classic Slip-On LX. Hayashi’s imagery and intricate detailing extends from footwear into a deluxe Barbican Shoulder Bag and Swift Brooks Saddle.

Speaking about the new designs, Hayashi commented: “At Vans we consider our team to be a family and are constantly gaining inspiration from one another. However, since our Vault by Vans collections are very specific, I generally spearhead a project and work closely with our collaborator. I chose the Swift model, which is one of my favorite saddles from the Brooks collection.

“I wanted to incorporate the Swift symbol and cues from south-western motifs. The Swift motif on the saddle and the sneakers are applied slightly differently. The saddle motif is applied with a molded emboss plate, which is a unique process. For the sneakers, we chose to utilise laser etching to maintain the detailed design work and craftsmanship.”

The collection will be available to purchase from December 2016 at selected stockists.
