10 000 times an American hero

Never mind the legs, it'll be Lance Armstrong's right arm that will soon be aching the most. The six times Tour de France winner is the latest celeb to be invited to provide signatures - 10 000 of 'em - for the American Heroes coin series.
Publish date:

Handwritten autographs of the 32-year old Texan will be placed inside sonically-sealed coin holders and will contain either Tour de France commemorative silver coins struck by the French Mint, Monnaie de Paris, or United States coins struck during the same years Armstrong won his six consecutive Tour de France races, 1999 to 2004.

A certificate of authenticity will accompany each encapsulated autograph and coin, produced by Collectors Universe, Inc.

Previous signers in the American Heroes programme include former Presidents Gerald R. Ford and George Bush as well as former prisoner of war, Jessica Lynch.
