2006 Cannondale Six13 ships with integral SRM power meter

The SRM Power Meter is incorporated with Cannondale's integrated Hollowgram crankset, adding on-board power measurement while still remaining lighter and stiffer than Shimano’s Dura-Ace, says Cannondale. "I've ridden bikes that were like Fiats, this is a Lamborghini," said Giuliano Figueras who is new to the Cannondale-equipped Lampre Caffita team.

Giro d’Italia winners Damiano Cunego (2004) and Gilberto Simoni (2003) of the Lampre Caffita cycling squad will be riding prototype Cannondale Six13 road machines in this year's Giro.

The new Six13 bike has lost 100 grams over last year's already light bike.

“By combining the rear triangle of the CAAD 8 frame with the front end of the Six13, we were able to significantly reduce weight and add stiffness for greater pedaling efficiency,” said Chris Peck, Cannondale's director of R&D.

The 2006 Six13 features carbon fibre-top and down-tubes but last year's carbon seat tube is replaced with CAAD8 Optimo aluminium.

Team replica bikes will also feature the same integrated SRM power measurement system employed by Team Lampre Caffita for both racing and training. The SRM Power Meter is incorporated with Cannondale's integrated Hollowgram crankset.

Six13 bikes, available in 12 sizes, start shipping in mid-May.
