360° helmetcam captures immersive videos of your commute or play

360cam of France can be used to upload Streetview-style video to Google & has blown through its Kickstarter target.

Girooptic of Lille, in France, has developed the 360cam a high-definition 360° video and stills camera. With a helmet mounting bracket it could become a highly-detailed "bikecam". Currently, those who wish to record bad driving on their commutes have to ride with a camera front and rear: the 360cam would be single-camera solution and would capture far more of the surrounding scene than any other cameras.

The camera has three 185º fish-eye lenses which simultaneously capture and stitch images in real time inside the camera to produce an all-around view

The 360cam is equipped GPS, a gyroscope, and microphones and features MicroSD card storage of up to 64GB.

Video shot on a 360cam can be used to create your own "street-view" style footage which could be uploaded online via the camera's Google Photosphere-compatible GPS geotagging feature.

The project has already broken through its Kickstarter target of $150,000 and is currently on $483,832. The "early bird" purchasers get the camera for $299.
