New service promises to push online consumers into local specialist dealers

51 bike shops sign up to Schwalbe Click and Collect

Schwalbe UK has praised the reaction to its Click and Collect service, with 51 retailers signed up so far, and is looking for more to take part in the initiative.

Last year the firm launched the service, designed to drive business into local specialist cycle dealers. Customers can purchase products online on Schwalbe UK and pick them up online at their local dealer through the service, which has been created with the help of Shopatron and its retail-integrated eCommerce platform.

All Schwalbe tyres and tubes with the ‘click and collect’ logo are available for purchase through the service. Customers will be guided through the tyre and tube selection, checkout and pickup process.

Schwalbe told BikeBiz that the average order for retailers via the Schwalbe online shop is £50. The most popular bicycle tyres are the Marathon Plus 700 x 28C and Delta Cruiser 26 x 1 3/8.

However, more popular than both is the Marathon Plus wheelchair size 24 x 1.00 of which 2,500 pcs were sold last year by Schwalbe UK to its wholesalers. The firm said it is seeing a few more of its distributors take on the Marathon wheelchair range since these figures have come to light so stocks should be good.

BikeBiz was told that two retailers gained over £1,000 worth of sales each in the months September to December last year.

All of Schwalbe UK’s magazine adverts now include ‘shop online at www.schwalbe.co.uk’, linking to the homepage with a visible ‘click here to visit our online shop’ button. Those magazine ads will feature in Cycling Plus, MBUK, What MTB, Pro Cycling, Cycle Sport, Cycle Active, DIRT, DIRT 100, Rouleur, Singletrack, Official TDF Guide, Bike Events and the CTC magazine.

There’s more on Schwalbe UK’s Click and Collect service here. Cycle retailers interested should email info@schwalbe.co.uk and include ‘Shopatron’ in the subject line.
