The link-up was announced earlier today at outdoor trade show, ISPO Winter 04 in Munich.
The Polar Java application is optimised for the Nokia 5140 phone and can be bought and downloaded from the Nokia Software Market website.
The wireless connectivity feature offered by the Polar S725 Cycling Monitor (and the S625X Running Computer) with the Nokia 5140 cellphone will be available in the second quarter of 2004.
The Polar S725 Cycling Heart Rate Monitor, Polar Wireless Cadence Sensor, Polar Speed Sensor and Polar Power Output Sensor will be available in March.
The Nokia 5140 phone comes equipped with VGA camera, flashlight and colour display. It also has removable covers to protect against dust, bumps and splashes. There’s also a digital compass and, available as an optional extra, a GPS add-on called the Xpress-on shell which includes a travel guide from Lonely Planet for route guidance, points of interest and downloadable maps.
The optional Nokia Activity Handsfree kit for the 5140 enables handsfree call management when cycling and, aw well as receiving calls, the built-in speaker and microphone makes it possible to listen to music or the radio while on the move.
