Automobile Association starts selling bikes from its website

AA moves into cycle retail

The AA’s online shop – at www.theAA.com/shop/bikes – is now selling Dawes bikes.

Promising free next working day delivery to the UK mainland, the AA will offer a selection of over 250 Dawes bikes, including children’s bikes, mountain bikes, city and folding bikes, trekking, road and heritage bikes.

The organisation has had a long association with the world of cycling. The organisation was founded in 1905 as a speed-trap alerting service, with cyclist spotters alerting motorists to police speed-traps. Dawes was founded in 1906.

The AA also publishes cycling guides for routes across the UK.

The firm is offering a ten per cent launch discount on Dawes bikes, available until June 30th 2011.

Steve Dyos, Special Sales Director for AA Shop said: "With the popularity of cycling and the constant interest in our cycling guides it seems natural for us to now offer bikes to help get people out there enjoying the great British countryside.

"Cycling is such a great way to not only get around but also to keep fit and healthy with the added bonus that is it something the whole family can get involved with.”
