Scottish cycle dealer seeks to capitalise on success with new store in Perth

Alpine Bikes: ‘2009 was one of the best in our history’

Speaking to BikeBiz, Alpine Bikes has revealed last year was on of its most successful and that it is planning to open a seventh store later this year.

The retailer also revealed how the Tiso takeover in 2006 has affected business: "The company has changed very little since becoming part of the Tiso Group in terms of service, range and focus. What has changed is that by being part of a larger group, Alpine is in a much stronger financial position to expand, either organically or through acquisition."

"We have seen strong sales in February coming from the fact that people could not get out on their bikes [in January due to the snow] and are now taking advantage of the improved weather. Overall, 2009 was a very good year for us, one of the best in the firm’s history."
