Ann Atkin flies to Oz

One of Raleigh's longest serving employees has retired and has jetted off to Australia on a family holiday. Ann started at Raleigh 37 years ago. She took a career break to have two children but still notched up 25 years of continuous service since rejoining the company.
Publish date:

She's worked as the secretary/PA to Sandy Roberts, executive chairman, and former MDs Howard Knight and Mark Todd, right through to current chairman Phillip Darnton.

There's to be a dinner in her honour when she's back in the UK in June. This dinner will be hosted by Alan Finden-Crofts, group chairman.

HISTORY: The Heron Evolves: Raleigh from 1975 to 2002

Yvonne Rix and Toyah Wilcox. Leslie Roberts and Noel Edmunds. Max and M Trax. Diamondback and Derby. The Bulwell Three and a bunch of newts. Raleigh was an interesting, but turbulent, place to work in the years 1975 to 2002. Here, in a constantly updated version of a paper written for the 11th International Cycle History Conference held at Osaka in August 2000, TONY HADLAND catalogues the ups and downs for Britain's best known bicycle manufacturer (latterly an assembler, now to be an importer only)
