"Our business – Armourtex – has been running as a commercial powder-coater for over seventeen years, but has since become increasingly popular for bicycle renovation over the years.
We started removing stuck seat posts, headsets and bottom brackets as and when required, but didn't offer any servicing, spares, repairs or new and refurbished bikes until May, when we opened the bike shop.
To the present day, we now sell both new and reconditioned bikes, stocking a range of bikes for the city; hybrid bikes, fixed-gear and single speed bikes and road bikes, alongside a range of BMXs.
Apart from the general bike shop spares that we stock, BMX components make up the bulk of the more specialist items that we tend to sell.
We paint frames for a few different companies: 14Bikeco. frame builders such as Ted James, Oak Cycles, Cloud 9 Cycles, and on top of those plenty of the London shops send stuff on to us; Tokyo Fixed, Push Cycles, Lunar Cycles, to name a few.
Our plans are to continue the development of the shop, where we would love to become well-known for BMX bikes and accessories. Our proximity to several skateparks means that we are in a great position to become known in these circles and achieve this goal, as well as having a strong interest from our own staff and friends in this area.
We also are working on new services to add to our paintwork, such as lug-lining, detailing and graphics, basically more high-end customisation options and skills that help us to offer full reproduction paint jobs for old cycles.
If any of your readers wants to hear more about us please drop by our website at www.armourtexcycles.tumblr.com.
We’d love to hear from businesses in the trade who could use a powder coating source too, so please do get in touch."
