Avid has revealed a new mechanical road and cyclocross targetted disc brake, further broadening a quickly expanding area of the market.

The BB7 RSL carries titanium hardware, alloy braking plates and a lighter organic brake pad. 'Falcon
Grey' anodizing matches the BB7 RSL to any of Sram’s existing road groupsets. The RSL will be available aftermarket with 140, or 160mm HS1 rotor and titanium rotor bolts. The price in USD per set is $170.

Adding to this, Sram will also bring to market a new $45 XL road cable, which comes with reinforced compressionless housing for sharp response and modulation, plus it’s 30 per cent lighter than traditional wound brake housing. The XL Cable Kit also works perfectly for larger road frames with rim brakes. The kit will include aluminum ferrules, rubber frame protectors and PTFE coated 1.6mm cables.

Both new products are expected to land with UK distributor Fisher Outdoor in November.
