A statemebt from Leisure Expo’s David Hyde said:
"The Bicycle Association and Leisure Expo recognise that a closer working relationship will enable them to develop a strong and more comprehensive exhibition policy for the industry and have now confirmed their intention to work together."
The first joint venture will take place in spring 2003 as the BA joins forces with Hyde’s existing roadshow.
"This event will provide full exhibition facilities normally associated with one central show, but will be economically priced to encourage the maximum number of exhibitors," said Hyde.
"A similar event is planned for autumn 2003 to ensure that all sectors of the industry are catered for."
The roadshows will feature late-night opening to accommodate those IBDs who cannot afford time during the normal working day.
"I am absolutely delighted that we have been able to reach agreement. We have very similar ideas for the future and I believe that a close working relationship with the Association will allow us both to provide the industry with effective exhibitions for 2003 and beyond," said Hyde.
Final ratification of the agreement will take place at the BAGB council on 30th October.
Dates for the show are:
South: Sandown Exhibition Centre, Esher 10–11 March 2003
North: Yorkshire Exhibition Centre, Harrogate 18–19 March 2003
And the name?
The National Cycle and Leisure Show.
