Event is latest in series of local bike shop team ups with Raleigh

Bank Cycles hosts Team Raleigh Le Tour primer

Bank Cycles customers got a taste of the climbs of the forthcoming Le Tour yesterday thanks to a special demo event.

With Team Raleigh riders Evan Oliphant and Ian Wilkinson, riders tackled sections of the Tour de France route in North Yorkshire – on Raleigh bikes, naturally.

The demo follows a programme of events Raleigh has been running with local bike shops, including JR Bikes and Hillingdon Wheelers, Leslie Bikes in Fife, Wolf Mountain in Wolverhampton, Station Cycles in Cambridge and Pedal Power Abingdon, designed to drive business.

In particular, the events at Herne Hill in Hillingdon and Aldersley Stadium in Wolverhampton helped the local dealer to take orders from parents on the night, Raleigh told BikeBiz, adding: "Those orders are all thanks to the personal service from the local dealer and the Raleigh events team, which is obviously a massive USP that local bike shops have over internet bike retailers."

Stuart Dingle, Pedal Power Abingdon, said: “I just wanted to say a massive thank you to you for organising Raleigh to support us on the day. We were the best stand there and have had some great feedback. Can’t wait to get a ride organised for next year with the Raleigh team.”

Coming up there are events at Freedom Cycles in Litchfield (Whittington Barracks) on Thurs May 8th, Alford Brothers in Felixstowe on May 9th, an e-bike demo day at Cyclemart in Lampeter May 9-11th and a Diamondback demo day at Big Peaks in Ashburton, Devon on May 11th.
