As a precursor to the national Bike Week, which kicks off on June 19th, Lewisham Council is once again holding a Bike and Kite festival on Blackheath during June.

Beginning on Saturday 12th and lasting until 7pm the following day, the festival is supported by TfL and is free of charge to attend.

Exhibitions and displays include:

  • Special international kite-fighting displays, with teams from around the world.
  • Renowned mountain bike stunt team, MAD, with its trials dislays. Children can get in on the act with special interactive in-between show ‘skill sessions’, where they can learn tips and tricks to help them perform their own bike stunts.
  • A BMX track with free access for younger riders to try out the latest bikes.
  • Bicycle-based theatre featuring Dick Turpin's Black Bess
  • Cycling activities for young people including slaloms, slow races and limbos.
  • Vintage bikes dating from the 1800s, with riders in period dress.
  • ‘Try before you buy’ a range of bikes with Get Cycling.
