The Fredcast – a road bike podcast – and Zen and the Art of Triathlon have been nominated in the People's Choice Podcast Awards. You can vote for these US sites until 11th August.

Bike podcasts up for online gongs

The Podcast Awards, now in their second year (hey, it’s a new technology!), are an annual event that recognises the best podcasters in the world by allowing listeners and podcasters to nominate, and then vote for their favourite podcasts.

The voting will culminate with awards and prizes being given during an Awards ceremony that will take place during the Podcast & Portable Media Expo in Ontario, California, on September 29th. This is an expo created by the ‘podcast brothers, Tim and Emile Bourquin who as well as having a business podcast of their own, also run an endurance sports podcast which features cycling.

The Fredcast is up against stiff competition: also nominated in the health & fitness category is the Sex is Fun podcast.

Zen and the Art of Triathlon has been nominated in the sports category.

During the Tour de France, The FredCast was listed on the front page of Apple’s iTunes Music Store. The Apple iTunes Music Store is one of the easiest and most popular ways for individuals to find, subscribe and download podcasts.

The show was also recently featured on iTunes’ "Podfinder Podcast," a show hosted by former MTV V.J. Adam Curry, ‘father’ of podcasting.

The FredCast Cycling Podcast is a weekly internet audio programme that features cycling news, product reviews, upcoming events, tips, and cycling music. The show is hosted by David Bernstein, a road cyclist and former bicycle industry executive from Southern California. Listeners to The FredCast are enthusiast amateur recreational and endurance cyclists, so-called “Freds.”
