Retailers, distributors, brands, media and more share the prizes at the bike trade prize night

BikeBiz Awards 2012: The winners revealed

Over 200 members of the cycle industry converged for the 2012 BikeBiz Awards.

Now in its fifth year, the awards – the only night to celebrate the achievements of the cycle industry – took place at the NEC’s Hilton Metropole Hotel, with 16 awards handed out, the winners voted for by members of the trade.

And in celebration of cycling’s biggest year to date, memorabilia from the sport’s biggest stars was on show, thanks to British Cycling, including Victoria Pendleton’s helmet, a signed Olympic shirt and signed photos of cycling’s greatest stars.

IBDs and online specialist retailers won prizes alike, including Sigma Sport, Bath’s Avon Valley Cyclery and Wiggle.

Distribution prizes were shared out between BMX specialist Seventies, Fisher Outdoor Leisure, Upgrade Bikes, CSG UK and Madison.

Cycle media companies were honoured on the night too, with Future’s Cycling Plus winning the Consumer Print Media prize again. Road.cc not only won Consumer Online Media, but also scooped Best Use of Social Media – a new award for 2012 honouring brands that have been great at connecting with their audience via the likes of Twitter, Facebook and other social media outlets.

But it wasn’t just distributors, media and retailers grabbing prizes on the night, with Cyclescheme winning Services and Training and Sky Ride winning Cycling Campaign of the Year – another new award for 2012.

Platinum Partner for the BikeBiz Awards was Gatorade, with Event Partners Cycle-SOS, Mio and NRG4 also supporting the trade prizes. Competition Partner Cycleguard awarded a case of wine to one lucky attendee on the night.
