25-minute show filmed at Interbike is now available online

BikeBiz editor hosts TV chat show

BikeBiz editor Carlton Reid tried his hand at fronting a TV chat show at September’s Interbike trade show in Las Vegas.

The show was broadcast on plasma screens at Interbike and was also available live on the internet via Cycling.tv. The broadcast went out late at night in the UK and wasn’t archived on Cycling.tv. It can now be accessed as a video podcast from iTunes.

The show guests were David Bernstein of The Fredcast podcast and Uwe Weissflog, Interbike’s European PR officer. Weissflog also handles European PR for folding bike maker Dahon. Bernstein and Weissflog talked about the growing popularity of urban cycling in the US and Europe.

After a commercial break, with ads from Shimano, the BikeBiz editor talked to John Denson of US saddle-to-optics supplier Serfas, and Allen Richburg MD, a sports medicine doctor. Serfas has produced an electronic saddle testing units for bike shops.

Reid said: "It was quite hard to concentrate on listening to the guests when I had the producer from Cycling.tv telling me stuff in a hidden earphone. At one point I can be seen nodding to the producer when I should have been saying a piece to camera.

"It was good exposure for the mag though. A BikeBiz logo was beamed around the show floor for the duration of the show and because mine was the last show of the day, the BikeBiz logo was left on all the show plasma screens as people left the expo halls.

"It was great to play at being a chat show host but I don’t think Jonathan Ross has much to worry about."
