Five bike gift to help residents get out and about in search for work

BikeRight helps homeless hostel with bike donations

BikeRight has donated five bicycles to the Alt Bank House homeless hostel to assist residents in meeting appointments and job interviews.

Once those at the hostel have completed their induction training, they’re now free to use the bikes to get around. Robert Dawson, 53, said: ”The new bike will allow me get out under my own steam. Now I can get to important appointments and it will help me look for a new job.

“It will also improve my fitness, it is good for the environment and I find cycling in the fresh air helps you to feel good about yourself.”

Nicola Williams, LHT Housing Manager said: “We are delighted to be working with Bikeright and Merseytravel – it is a great example of how working in partnership can encourage a healthier lifestyle. Not only will the new bikes give our residents more independence, but they also help to promote green initiatives within the hostel.”

Alt Bank House homeless hostel, managed by Liverpool Housing Trust (LHT) opened last year and it provides a safe, secure and temporary place to live for single homeless people where staff help residents move on to permanent homes and a more independent life.
