Firm follows up on iPhone mount

Biologic launches Android bike mount at Taipei

Urban cycle accessories brand BioLogic, has unveiled its Bike Mount for Android at Taipei Cycle Show today.

The BioLogic Bike Mount for Android mounts an Android phone to a bike so riders can use GPS and an appropriate app on the phone to track speed, position, or distance travelled, whilst riding.

Sporting a weatherproof hard-shell case, the welded touch-sensitive membrane so the phone is completely protected from the weather but still fully functional, Biologic says. The case features a clear protected opening on the back for taking video or pictures while riding and is sealed shut with a dual double-pivot lock system.

The mount is compatible with the most popular Android-based phones currently on the market using the appropriate silicone Bike Mount for Android Liner. Four versions of the liner – that fits specific dimensions of a particular model – are now available and future versions are planned to include other models as demand for them increases or new versions are released.

“The tremendous growth in smartphone use has revolutionized the way we work and play, and this includes how we ride,” said Biologic project manager Kevin Chan.

“Our Bike Mount for iPhone allowed people to use their iPhones on their bike as a powerful cycling computer and we wanted to give this ability to Android users as well. There are a lot of free and paid cycling apps for Android smartphones but no really good way to mount one to a bike. Our product not only securely attaches your phone to a bike, but also protects it against weather, sweat, grime, and shock.”

Biologic added that the Bike Mount can pivot 360° so a phone can be used in portrait or landscape modes and comes with a mounting bracket that fits handlebars or stems with a diameter of 38 mm (1.5-inch) or smaller.

Phones that are compatible with currently available liners include: Samsung Galaxy SII HTC Desire HD / HTC EVO 4G / HTC Inspire 4G Samsung Galaxy S / LG Optimus 2X HTC Sensation
