Women's cycling event taking place up and down the country later this month to celebrate female success at London 2012

Breeze in the Park hitting 9 towns this month

On Sunday September 23rd, nine towns and parks will be the venue for ‘Breeze in the Park’.

These ‘bike riding havens’ will be open to women taking their bikes, friends and family to celebrate the successes of women’s cycling.

Back in the olden days, or more specifically at the first modern Olympic Games in 1896, all the competitors were men. This year 4,800 female competitors have taken part, providing the more medal opportunities for women than ever before.

“London 2012 will forever go down as a defining moment for women’s sport and this extraordinary and unprecedented time deserves a celebration," enthused Natalie Justice, British Cycling’s women’s network manager. "We want every single woman out there who has been inspired this summer to bring their bike, and their friends and families, along to the park to join us for a special Breeze bike ride.”

The free event takes place in nine towns on Sunday September 23rd. The cost for attendees is free.
