British Cycling confirms venues for 2017 mountain bike events

British Cycling has confirmed the venues and dates for the 2017 British Cycling MTB Cross-Country Series, National Championships and Marathon Championships.

The 2017 national series will once again comprise five rounds and will be co-ordinated by British Cycling in partnership with various regional organisers.

Returning to the calendar and kicking off the 2017 series is Pembrey, South Wales, which successfully hosted the opening round in 2016. Round two sees the return of well-known venue Wasing Park in Berkshire to the national calendar, for an event that is to be run by former Southern XC co-organiser Trevor Patey in partnership with Pedalon and Army CU.

Round three will be at Aske Estate in North Yorkshire, and hosted by Nutcracker Racing. The venue previously hosted the 2011 National Championships, however, a completely different course and arena are planned for 2017.

Nutcracker also hosts round four at the ever-popular venue of Dalby Forest, while the season finale teams up with John Lloyd Events in August to visit the Royal Welsh Showground venue in Builth Wells for the first time in many years.

The 2017 British Cycling National Mountain Bike Cross-Country Championships take place at Cannock Chase, Staffordshire run by Run and Ride, which successfully hosted round five of the 2016 season.

The 2017 National Mountain Bike Marathon Championships will be held in the Isle of Man for the first time and will be run by the Manx Mountain Bike Club. This event will be a run as a single loop using the variety of the terrain that the Isle of Man has to offer.

Further details will be published on the British Cycling website later in the year.
