British Cycling launches bike maintenance workshops

Beginner and intermediate cyclists targeted with new classes
Publish date:

Peter 'Spike' Taylor, former head mechanic for the GB Cycling Team, is to head up bike maintenance and repair workshops on behalf of British Cycling.

Aimed at beginner and intermediate cyclists, the workshops will take place in Manchester (October 27th/28th), London (October 30th/31st) and Birmingham (November 12th/13th).

The Beginner Workshop is a half-day course for new cyclists with little or no experience of bike maintenance. The Intermediate Workshop, meanwhile, is a full-day course for more experienced cyclists looking to learn advanced maintenance and repair skills.

Peter Taylor said: “There is nothing difficult about basic bike maintenance and repair. These new workshops are designed to teach new and regular cyclists some simple techniques and give them the confidence to do the job themselves, saving them time and money.”

Bikes, tools and refreshments will be provided and all who register for a workshop will receive British Cycle Ride membership free of charge (worth £24).

Stewart Kellett, director of Recreation and Partnerships at British Cycling, added: “As the national governing body for the sport and home to the GB Cycling Team, we can offer the inside track on maintenance and repair straight from the pros. The new workshops will be delivered in a fun and hands-on format and are open to cyclists of all ages and abilities.”
