Brompton Dock – the bike hire scheme growing across the UK’s railway stations – is to see a change in its top management, with managing director Mark Antwis stepping down.
Antwiss has been involved with Brompton Dock from concept stage in early 2010. Brompton Dock is now at over 25 locations in the UK and has the widest distribution of any commercial bike hire scheme in Europe, according to the company.
There’s no immediate replacement lined up for Antwiss, who will leave on June 19th and retain his shareholder status. A successor will be appointed, but in the interim Harry Scope will act as operations manager for the day-to-day business, reporting directly to Brompton boss Will Butler Adams.
The company said in a statement: "Mark Antwis’ passion has been for innovation, and translating the original concept into a successfully operating reality. He has indicated that, now that the creative launch phase of the Brompton Dock has been achieved, he is leaving in order to allow a new appointee to take on the consolidation of the business, enabling him to pursue a new innovative challenge.
"Will Butler-Adams expressed his appreciation to Mark for the achievement of the realisation of the original idea of delivering affordable and flexible bike hire to cities across the UK, and wished him well in his pursuit of his new venture."
