Training dates for 2014 Campagnolo product are being put in place by the brand and Velotech Cycling.

Fitting for items like the new EPS v2 internal power unit and the OverTorque chainset and bottom bracket system will be included, but there'll also be comprehensive, Campagnolo-specific mechanical training. A limited number of retailers and others have received training already.

Retailers with EPS v2 on back order are invited to add the names of their already EPS-trained technicians to the list who will receive priority in the dates offered. A finite number of places will be funded on this aspect of the programme by Campagnolo.

Velotech Cycling will run the training in its role as Campagnolo's longest standing factory-appointed and approved Service Centre in the UK. Velotech Cycling is one of the very few bodies outside of Campagnolo and Campagnolo-owned subsidiaries world-wide, authorised to offer factory-recognised and approved training.

"EPS v2 is straightforward to install given the correct tools and the opportunity for a dry-run with help on hand," said Velotech Cycling Ltd's Graeme Freestone King "but without that help we feel that some retailers may have queries that they may not be confident to try and answer for themselves."

Changes are also afoot in how retailers are listed on the Campagnolo ProShop website at both www.campagnolo.com and at Velotech Cycling Ltd's website – www.velotech-cycling.ltd.uk – so that ProShop details will show the areas of training that retailers have completed.

Freestone King added: "We think that this is very important. On average we get around 20 emails from UK customers a week going to Campagnolo direct, and many, many more coming to us, looking for technical guidance on Campagnolo equipment.

"Whilst many aspects of Campagnolo mirror other manufacturer's products, there are aspects that some solid background training and information can help retailers with, when dealing with questions from their customers. The comprehensive, modular training programme that we have put together alongside the Service and Warranty department in Vicenza is designed to address these areas. The training is of a technical nature and requires a level of competence comparable to Velotech Platinum, Cytech 2 or City and Guilds level 2 as a pre-requisite."

In the first instance, retailers should contact Velotech Cycling Ltd to register their interest in the upcoming courses, at velotechcycling@aim.com. A web-based booking system for courses is currently being beta-tested by Campagnolo themselves.
