Industry podcast on 63rd episode is guest hosted by BikeBiz exec editor Carlton Reid

Catch up with the Spokesmen

The Spokesmen podcast is an audio conflab between US and UK industry figures, a Skype conference call normally recorded by David Bernstein of the Fredcast. However, for the 63rd edition of the show, Bernstein handed the reins to guest host Carlton Reid, executive editor of BikeBiz.com.

Reid is usually one of the co-hosts on the show, alongside other regulars such as Tim Jackson of ASI, Rich Kelly of Interbike, and Donna Tocci of Digitas, formerly of Kryptonite locks. Guests have included Floyd Landis, TV commentator Bob Roll, and Scott Montgomery, then of Scott USA.

Kelly and Jackson were on show 63, recorded on Sunday, and the special guest was Chris Matthews, senior manager for global marketing at Specialized. Before heading out on a bike ride he talked about that morning’s win of the Tour of Flanders on a Specialized bike (the fourth year in a row) and the launch of the Specialized Venge.

Other topics included a funny hate piece about cyclists in the Wall Street Journal by US right wing humorist P. J O’Rourke and why his 1987 prediction that bicycles would be "extinct within the decade" has failed to happen.

The Spokesmen podcast is recorded every other week and is often streamed live on ustream as well as being available online and on iTunes.
