Thousands of Government employees unable to take advantage of cycle initiative

Civil servants miss out on C2W

According to this report in The Guardian at the weekend, significant sections of the government have failed to implement the Cycle to Work Scheme for employees.

106,000 staff members from the Work and Pensions offices, and 87,000 from the Defence department are unable to take part in the scheme that is currently being offered by more than 10,000 employers across the UK.

CTC spokesperson Cherry Allen said: “Given that the government promotes this scheme and introduced it itself, we would expect it to lead by example.”

While the departments offer interest-free loans to employees, it is estimated that the official Cycle to Work initiative offers far better savings of up to four times.
