Classic bike company under new management

The mail order only Great Escape Bicycle Company has just changed hands.
Publish date:

Keith and Maria Hopwood of Tarporley in Cheshire have sold the business to Chris and Sue Green of Stoke on Trent. Sue told BikeBiz that she and Chris are currently evaluating distribution channels and have yet to rule out sales through IBDs.

We took over on 5th November and are just getting up and running. Being new to the bicycle trade we want to explore all the avenues available to us and because not everybody wants a mountain bike perhaps there is scope for offering our bikes to bike shops.

The Great Escape Bicycle Company import what some call old-fashioned sit-and-begs and others call classic bikes from yesteryear. All sales to date have been made via mail order through sell-off-the-page adverts in magazines such as Country Living and other prestige magazines, as Sue Green puts it.

The business doesnt have a website but Sue says this is now a priority.

Any mom and pop stores looking to trial granny and grandad bikes should call 01538 703535 or email
