The cargobike is moving into the mainstream and Ison adds the US longtail add-on to its range

CoreBike 2009: Xtracycle signs with Ison

Ison has signed distribution rights in the UK for Xtracycle, the longtail cargobike add-on.

Ison already distributes bikes from Surly. The Surly Big Dummy is built with an integral Xtracycle.

Ison’s arketing manager Matt Andrews told BikeBiz at Core: “The deal came about because of our relationship with Surly, who in turn have a good relationship with Xtracycle. We’ve been surprised by the demand for practical carriers and our customers have responded well at Core.”

Ison will stock the Free Radical trailer, as well as accessories such as foot-rests and expanders for carrying wide items.

Product will be available within the next two to three weeks.

Coincidentally, the BikeBiz executive editor is currently getting Newcastle Cycle Centre to fit a Free Radical to a Burley Runabout. This is to be photographed for the Bike to Work Book.

In other Ison news, motocross brand Renthal has also joined forces with Ison, something that BikeBiz will cover in depth in the February issue.
