The World Mountain Bike Conference, originally due to take place this May, has been postponed until 2010 due to the international financial crisis.
The Dumfries-set World Mountain Bike Conference on Sustainability was set back to 2010 for ‘when economic conditions might be more favourable’. Feedback for the planned conference was positive, according to the conference organisers, who explained the reasons for the delay late last night:
“Unfortunately the international financial crises which attracted the leaders of the ‘G-20’ nations to the United Kingdom last week has also impacted our attempts to stage the 2009 World Mountain Bike Conference,” said conference spokesman Dan London.
“This global situation has caused many organisations to reduce budgets and curtail travel, which has resulted in an unanticipated low level of confirmed delegates such that the staging of the WMBC this year is not financially viable,” London added.
The Original Bicycle Festival, taking place Saturday May 9th to Sunday May 24th, will continue as planned.
