Cycle Bid Co looks certain to claim Derby Cycle Corporation

Head, the sports brand, was interested two months ago. Trek USA did a lot of due diligence research on DCC, but will not be bidding. That just leaves the buy-out vehicle created by Alan Finden-Crofts in partnership with existing investors

Malcolm Davies, Trek's director of international subsiduaries, told this morning that despite the interest in taking on board the likes of Raleigh and Derby's other brands, Trek decided not to see its bid through.

"We want to focus our energies on our existing businesses," he said.

Bids have to be received by Derby's lawyers in New York by tomorrow. The successful bidder will be revealed by about 5pm this Friday, just in time for the start of Interbike.
