New Fenchurch store launches partnership, seeing Republic stock high end models

Cycle Republic brings Basso bikes into the UK

Premium road bike brand Basso has launched exclusively into Cycle Republic stores this month, premiering at the newly opened flagship store in Fenchurch St, London.

Cycle Republic will launch with a number of models across all its stores catering for a range of riders, from serious racers to weekend club riders. Cycle Republic is offering customers the chance to test ride any model and finance options.

Basso Bikes was started by Alcide Basso, brother of one of the fastest sprinters of the ’70s, Marino Basso. Alcide was his older brother’s mechanic when Marino was winning multiple stages of the Tour de France, Giro and Vuelta, beating some of the greatest cyclists of all time, including Merckx. In the late ’70s Alcide founded Basso Bikes.

The Basso range includes the Diamonte road bike, which comes equipped with Ultegra Di2 and a carbon frame weighing 830g (53cm) thanks to its unique weave allowing the monocoque to hold stiffness and integrity without the need for aluminium reinforcements. It retails at £4,499.

“We’re delighted to be partnering with Basso," said Peter Kimberley, Cycle Republic MD. "The name has such a great heritage and the bike brand, started by a pro-team mechanic, is now producing some of the finest road, track and CX bikes in the world. We are incredibly excited to have this brand exclusively available through Cycle Republic as we know expecting keen roadies, looking for something a bit different from the norm, will be eager to get their hands on these models”.

Cycle Republic has also partnered with Cyclescheme, with all its nine stores now accepting Cyclescheme vouchers, to help more people choose the right bike for them and to get cycling.
