A new Cycle Tourism, Digital and Creative Industries Workshop is to be held in Dundee this month.

The event will bring together innovators in digital and creative technologies with mountain biking and cycling tour operators, accommodation providers and other activity providers, to inspire business to initiate academic collaborations, business to business partnerships and an upgrading of the level of service towards bike tourists.

The workshop will be presented by Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland, Mountain Bike Centre of Scotland and hosted by the University of Dundee in its new Centre for Entrepreneurship on campus, in collaboration with Elevator UK.

The event will take place in the Centre of Entrepreneurship, University of Dundee on Thursday, October 19th between 17:30 – 20:30. It is aimed at tourism businesses, cycling related companies, professionals and academics from the digital and creative industries. There will be time for speed pitching for all delegates to communicate their business requirements or offering to all in attendance. Networking time will also be built into the evening.

“Increasingly, tourism providers are looking for new ways to attract visitors and also to cater to the increasing demands of tourists,” said Mountain Bike Centre of Scotland business development executive Danny Cowe. “By ‘gamifying’ their experience, they can add value by attracting families, education providers and children to engage in the experience in a fun and competitive way.

“The recent phenomenon Pokémon Go showed how powerful gamification can be to get people out and about exploring. At this event, delegates will hear from exciting companies about how their services can help increase the attractiveness of the visitor experience. I am confident that this is the way forward for the industry and look forward to seeing what unfolds after the event.”
