Cyclists team up for Girona Gala to benefit Qhubeka

Matt Brammeier and Nathan Haas – professional cyclists for Team Dimension Data – and Nikki Harris-Brammeier – professional cyclist for Boels-Dolmans – are proud to announce the inaugural Girona Gala.

This year’s charity partner for the event is the Qhubeka foundation. The Girona Gala will be a formal gala soiree held local venue “El Jardin”, in the heart of Girona’s historic city centre. The dinner and festivities will be on the October 22nd 2016. Following the dinner, there will be a live auction of cycling memorabilia, bikes, and many other bespoke pieces.

Matt Brammeier says: “I was chatting over a coffee with one of our friends at Deloitte; we both agreed that we, as riders, could do more to promote and help our charity partner Qhubeka. Just a few weeks later during the Tour of California, myself and Nathan, who is also pretty passionate about Qhubeka, bashed around a few ideas, and it didn’t take us long to come up with the idea of a Gala Dinner and Ride in Girona. We’ve always done what we can, but we both agreed we wanted to go that extra mile. So far, we’ve had so much fun, and such an amazing response working on this project – October 22nd can’t come fast enough!”

Brammeier, Haas, and Harris-Brammeier will also be offering some guided “café” rides earlier that day for ticket holders of the event. Haas says: “We’ve been thinking for ages that it would be great to bring a cycling charity event to our home in Girona, and Qhubeka is the best excuse for it that we could imagine. Working on this event has been a great way as well to bond with a teammate beyond just racing. We both love the chance to do more for Qhubeka than what is required, and we really hope to see the continued success of this partnership and event for years to come. Oh, and of course, this is gonna be a rocking good time. We love any excuse for a good end-of-season party.”

The 2016 event is being presented with additional support from Dimension Data & Deloitte, who have kindly offered services and support to ensure the viability and maximum charity fundraising.
