Dahon has announced plans to streamline its supply and distribution chain for global orders through a new Approved Third-party Manufacturer (ATM) programme.
The new programme will mean that Dahon’s major customers can now buy directly from an approved third-party manufacturer, having only to purchase special/patented parts from Dahon at a nominal cost, along with components from other suppliers approved by Dahon.
The company has launched the ATM programme in Europe, with plans to make it available to countries worldwide in the coming months. The move aims to "better facilitate local spec variations and compliance with the 60/40 rule, as well as improving efficiency".
Under the new plans customers and distributors will work directly with Dahon for purchasing and service. This new streamlined approach to global distribution will offer "lower price structures" to partners as well as "improved services and more consistent policies" across the board.
The company added: “The restructuring of Dahon’s supply chain bolsters Dahon’s efforts in developing an efficient global strategy that benefits customers and distributors as well as ensuring continued success in the bicycle industry as leaders in green transportation.”
As well as revealing the new ATM programme, it has been announced that Dennis Hu has returned to Dahon as an appointed agent for European Affairs, based in the UK.
