Dahon will launch its SAP enterprise system from today, to cope with an expected rise in demand in the bike industry, the firm has announced.

Dahon has partnered with IBM business services to roll out the SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) system across its business. The multi-million dollar project is expected to go live later this year, and is hoped to improve production efficiency and streamline operations for the company.

Founder and CEO of Dahon Dr. David Hon said: “SAP gives us real-time visibility into every aspect of our business operations. We expect to see pretty dramatic improvements in most of our operational benchmarks.

“We chose IBM to consult on the implementation both for its depth of experience and its ability to help us implement SAP across all of our global operations.”

Dahon vice president Joshua Hon confessed: “To be honest, the growth we’ve experienced over the last few years has out-stripped our existing systems. By moving to SAP, we take a big step forward in our manufacturing and business planning capabilities.”

Hon confidently added: “We’re very bullish about the growth prospects of the bicycle industry in the coming years and this big investment now will pay dividends down the line.”
