Sports and cycle retail giant Decathlon has become the ‘anchor’ tenant for Orford Park in Warrington, says the Liverpool Daily Post.

Orford is a former landfill site and Victorian community park, redeveloped as an Olympic legacy regeneration project. Costing £30 million Orford Park will include facilities for sport and leisure, including walking and cycling paths, skateboarding and BMX facilities and swimming pools, sports hall, crèche, café and more.

Decathlon’s presence at the site will include it’s tenth UK store, opening on the site by December 2011 and creating 50 new jobs.

Decathlon’s UK property director Stephan Veyret said: “We are delighted to be part of this project.”

Warrington council’s Andy Farrall added: “Their new store will not only create jobs in the local area but it is entirely in keeping with the sporting legacy of the site and what we are trying to achieve with this landmark development."
