The rise and rise of dockless bike sharing will be one of the core themes at the Cycling + Walking Innovations 2017 conference set for London later this month. A discussion of the sector will be chaired by BikeBiz editor-at-large Carlton Reid and will include representatives from oBike, Nextbike, Urbo and Mobike.

The one-day event will also discuss "new technologies, innovative commercial products and services and emerging service and delivery business models," says a blurb for the conference.

The London-based event is organised by Landor Links and sponsored by the Department for Transport. Cycling + Walking Innovations 2017 will be headlined by transport minister Jesse Norman and gold-medal-winning Olympian Chris Boardman, now Greater Manchester's walking and cycling commissioner.

Other speakers include Bicycle Association executive director Phillip Darnton, the former chair of Cycling England.

Laura Peacock, the innovation and research manager at Oxfordshire County Council, will talk on "partnerships between local authorities, business and academia to enable regional innovation in mobility."

There will also be an attached exhibition at the event which will include innovations in e-bikes, dockless bike share, augmented reality planning tools, virtual reality, accessible payment systems, mapping and wayfinding services, apps, journey planners, and cycle infrastructure planning tools.

The bike share innovation round-table will discuss shared e-bikes, stationless and peer-to-peer bike share, and smart locks. The panelists include Haroon Khan of oBike, Julian Scriven, of nextbike UK, Tom McGovern of Urbo and Steve Pyer of Mobike. Cycling UK's policy director Roger Geffen will also be on the panel.

The conference costs £245 per ticket for the private sector and £145 per tickets for individuals working in the public sector.

Cycling + Walking Innovations 2017 takes place at the Kia Oval in London on 21st November.
