E-bike sales have risen in Sweden, Denmark and Finland due to a hot and rain-free summer, Bike Europe reports.

Sweden now ranks among one of the largest e-bike markets of Europe, partly due to an extra boost by the Government which is offering a subsidy on the purchase of an e-bike.

The granted subsidy amounts to 25 per cent of the purchase price, with a maximum of up to €1,000, per e-bike for all citizens.

This has resulted in a total sale of 103,000 units from September 2017 to August 2018 in Sweden.

An e-bike in Sweden retails for an average price of €1,650, meaning that the total retail value of the e-bike market stands between €180 million and €200 million.

In 2017 the imports of e-bikes into Denmark grew over 10 per cent to 40,568 units.

The e-bike market accelerated with a 13.1 per cent increase to 38,500 units building on a nine per cent growth in volume in 2016.

This is according to the figures released by the Danish bicycle dealers and industry organisation Danske Cykelhandlere.

In Finland, e-bike sales doubled again this year, as in 2017.

Earlier this month it was reported that Taiwan’s e-bike exports rose in volume and value during the first nine months of the year.
