After ten years of trading, Edinburgh Bicycle Co-operative has announced the closure of its Manchester branch.

Jeremy Miles, managing director of the Edinburgh Bicycle Co-operative brand, said: "It is with great regret that Edinburgh Bicycle is announcing the closure of our store in Manchester.

"Having come to the end of our lease there and with market conditions as they currently are, we did not feel it was wise to continue in what has been a difficult location. We have very much enjoyed serving the cyclists of Manchester for the last 10 years and we look forward to continuing the provision of excellent brands and services in our other city locations."

The MD cited "very turbulent times for the industry" for the decision to close, adding that the constraints of Brexit trading would greatly decrease Edinburgh Bicycle's profit margin.

All may not be lost for the future prospects of Edinburgh Bicycle Manchester, as Miles concluded: "We are confident that we will be a stronger, fitter albeit leaner business going forward and believe there will be future opportunity to re-launch expansion plans as the market consolidates."
